Lesson 74

Sometimes we think we are so cute.  We go through our lives with our own selfish intentions and then flaunt it to the world.  Proverbs 10:10 says:

He who winks maliciously causes grief,
and a chattering fool comes to ruin.

The person who winks with bad intentions is doing so only to get at someone.  Have you ever seen anyone get away with something and just have to let you know by a wink or a smile?  What does that accomplish?  Just rubs it in.  There is no good coming from the one who has to rub in a win.

The person who does subtle actions such as winking and smiling are on the road to ruin but in a more quiet way.  The one who never shuts up is a different story.

It says that “a chattering fool comes to ruin.”  Those that never shut their mouths are not looking for the safe way.  Why could this happen?  Because the person who never keeps their shut never is able to learn how to use their ears.  Ruin is in the cards because they are not paying attention to what is going on around them.  They are so busy running off their mouth.  They are totally unaware of what is around them.  They are walking into danger and will not be aware of it.

What do we take from this?  When you do actions with bad intentions, you bring grief.  When you refuse to keep silent, you look for disaster.  How can you apply this verse to your life today?
