Lesson 69

Probers 10:3 says that “The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.”

What does it mean to be righteous?

A definition of righteous would be moral uprightness.  That would mean living a life ethically and deciding the good road when faced between right and wrong.  In other words, staying clean and straight.  When God sees this in a person, He promises to not let them go hungry.  The basic needs will not be ignored.  In today’s world it seems that the bad guys get all the breaks.  They have it made.  But in reality, they don’t.  We have a tendency to focus on the here and now and not think of the long term effects our decisions make.  If it feels good now, we do it.  We also only see the here and now in other people’s lives.  They might be making some really immoral choices and they apparently get away with it and in some cases get rewarded for it.  But that is the immediate scene.  Fast forward a week, a year, a lifetime and you will something different.  They lose friends, jobs, all they stole, their lives, and their souls.  He will “thwart” the craving of the wicked.  It might not be today but it will come.  And we can rest assured that as long as we look to Him for guidance He will provide.
