Does not wisdom call out?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the heights along the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
beside the gates leading into the city,
at the entrances, she cries aloud:
“To you, O men, I call out;
I raise my voice to all mankind.
You who are simple, gain prudence;
you who are foolish, gain understanding. (Proverbs 8:1-5 NIV)
In chapter 7 we learn that wisdom calls out for you to listen to her. Wisdom doesn’t just sit around and wait for you to find her. She is shouting from the rooftops, but very few are listening.
Wisdom is where you can’t miss her. You are meant to hear her, to learn from her, to grow and be strong. There is no excuse to not listen.
Yet, what do we do to ignore her cry? Bury ourselves in our work, our hobbies, our families, our personal interests. But you will not learn the truest of wisdom in any of these. Only when you read God’s word and listen to His commands can you gain true wisdom.
What are you doing today to learn true wisdom? Are you listening to the call? Are you desiring to learn wisdom? Be intentional!
