Lesson 26

It can be so easy to go along with the crowd.  It can be so easy not to rock the boat.  But the end results might not be so easy.

Proverbs 4:14-17 says

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men.

Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.

For they cannot sleep until they do evil; they are robbed of slumber until they make someone fall.

They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. (NIV)

Sounds kind of over the top?  Not really.  Let’s think about this for a minute.

Have you known someone who seems to have to start a rumor, at least one, during the day?
Have you known someone that just had to cause discord?  It is like they are chopping at the bit to do it?
Have you known someone who has to lie?

We don’t usually think of these actions when we read about evil.  But they are evil in the eyes of the Lord.  We are told not to slander and gossip.  We are told not to cause discord.  We are told not to lie.  These are all sins.  Yet, so many of us HAVE to do them and we excuse them because it is not murder.  It is not like we stole anything.  It is not like…….  Sin is sin.

Avoid this by not going with the crowd no matter how innocent it may look.  No matter how easy it might be go on the right path and do not participate.  It can only lead to destruction.
