Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
love her, and she will watch over you.(NIV)
Whenever you have anything precious, you guard it. You protect it. You cherish it. Look at like a pet. You have the dog that you love and cherish. You feed it well. You give it attention. When your house is broken into, that same dog will jump to your defense and guard you at all costs. Wisdom does the same way. You cherish wisdom. You nurture it and guard it. It will come to your rescue and protect each and every time.
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding (vs. 7 NIV)
How could it cost you all you have? You might have to give up that lucrative job because it puts you in positions of moral compromise. You might have to be willing to sacrifice time to be able to spend more in the Word. You might have to give up all that pride and ego that has been enveloping you and get acquainted with humility. It might cost you dearly, but it is worth it. It is supreme!
Esteem her, and she will exalt you;
embrace her, and she will honor you.
She will set a garland of grace on your head
and present you with a crown of splendor. (vs. 8-9 NIV)
Make wisdom important to you. Put in the place of honor. Wisdom will be respond accordingly. Wisdom is something you should want to attain like you desire gold and jewelries.
How important is it in your life? How much do you desire to have wisdom as your cloak to protect you from the elements? How much are you willing to give up?
